Menurut sejarah yang diketahui awam dan terdapat dalam berbagai buku “Teori Akuntansi”, disebutkan muncul di Italia pada abad ke-13 yang lahir dari tangan seorang Pendeta Italia bernama Luca Pacioli. Beliau menulis buku “Summa de Arithmatica Geometria et Propotionalita” dengan memuat satu bab mengenai “Double Entry Accounting System”. Namun apabila kita pelajari “Sejarah Islam” ditemukan bahwa setelah munculnya Islam di Semananjung Arab di bawah pimpinan Rasulullah SAW dan terbentuknya Daulah Islamiah di Madinah yang kemudian di lanjutkan oleh para Khulafaur Rasyidin terdapat undang-undang akuntansi yang diterapkan untuk perorangan, perserikatan (syarikah) atau perusahaan, akuntansi wakaf, hak-hak pelarangan penggunaan harta (hijr), dan anggaran negara.
